Sometimes it just feels a little impossible to calm all the way down and be still.
Here’s something that’s helping me right now:
Find a position that feels comfortable, without worrying about posture, and set a timer for five minutes.
Breathe slowly and gently in through the nose and out through the nose, keeping the inhale and exhale equal in length and maintaining a constant in-and-out rhythm.
Let the breath be soft, smooth, and unforced, allowing the body to naturally expand on the inhale and release on the exhale.
Notice the air coming and going—maybe you feel it in your nostrils, or maybe you notice your belly rising and falling.
As you breathe this way, the heart rhythm subtly adjusts with the breath, supporting the body to settle and the mind to feel calm and present.
I find it especially helpful to do this with the awareness that God is always with us and that it is his breath that gives us life.
May your rest be sweet.
Alicia
