It’s the REST of the week—it feels good to be able to say that again.
If you read last week’s post, you know that I’m processing my tardiness of late in sending this newsletter out.
There’s rest in letting go of the pressure to keep a streak, to sacrifice well-being to do something—for whatever reason.
It gives us room to breathe. To get past the compulsion that drives us to do something (however good) and to do it (or not) for good reasons.
Operating from a place of greater soul rest helps us to get to the real reasons for doing something and to commit (or recommit) from our hearts.
Growth happens, as my sister used to say, at the speed of the farm.
For some of us, we get it and implement it right away—like papaya trees.
You drop a papaya seed in a compost pile and you will almost see it grow before your eyes. In its habitat, it will give you fruit as quickly as 6 months.
Some of us need more time and cultivation to make it to the fruit producing stage—like my favorite fruit, mangosteen. Grown from seed, we are looking at a minimum of 7 years before you will eat anything.
Am happy to be sure that Id like to get this newsletter to you on time—and to understand that it’s going to take some work.
So now I will send you my brother-in-law’s reflection from two weeks ago—he makes a compelling argument for maintenance. I’m taking it as a call to do the work.
