It’s the rest of the week. Time to remember what God forgets.
We’ve heard it before—God is quick to forgive—but what if we really received it?
In the words of the Apostle Paul, quoting the Prophet Jeremiah (words for people who had repeatedly committed the unforgivable—words that echo down to us today):
“I will forgive their wrongdoing, and I will never again remember their sins.” (Hebrews 8:12).
God choses not to remember—that feels different from simply forgetting.
Imagine looking back over your life with God. All the moments—laughter, tears, weeping, joy… But no regret. No remorse. Somehow, the ways we’ve been shaped and transformed by our mistakes are separate from the mistakes themselves.
We are who we are—beloved humans with hope.
Maybe if we pause and note what feels heavy, what’s weighing us down, and we drop our defenses long enough to notice what we feel badly about, maybe we could sort it out with God—who doesn’t shame us, ever, and who is quick to forgive—maybe we could rest a little better.
May your rest be sweet.
