Fruit in season is the best.
Fruit is expensive here in Lebanon – I have never seen fresh pineapple under $15-$20.
(I cannot tell you how tasty they are because I have never purchased one.)
But, for fruit grown in the region, when its season comes around, it is both affordable and well worth the wait.
We are currently enjoying the long awaited mango season. These mangoes come from Egypt and are so big that you can get four or more servings out of just one of them.
These mangoes are both creamy and juicy and lovely to look upon. As far as taste goes, you will just have to come visit and see for yourself. I’m at a loss for words that adequately describe the flavor. They are that delicious.
And I can’t help but wonder what other things in life might be better appreciated if we waited to enjoy them in their season. Or, what seasons we might better enjoy if we appreciated the things that come with them.
